Mini-WaveWay to become available

. Published on

The first connector ever designed to reduce PIM

The WaveWay, is now to be made available in a 4.3/10 interface configuration. To satisfy the burgeoning requirement for space in antennae connection areas as providers demand more and more consolidation (Antennae), manufacturers are increasingly turning to the 4.3/10 connector to gain a space advantage over the 7/16 DIN connector.

But, Greg Rymar, Director of Research and Development at Hughes Electronics, says “The 4.3/10 connector still doesn’t help too much when it comes to the problem of PIM, the 4.3/10 is a better choice than 7/16 from a space point of view but it’s still made with pieces of metal and so has virtually all the problems of the 7/16 interface as far as PIM is concerned but with diminished power handling. Bringing the design technology engineered for the WaveWay to the 4.3/10 interface can solve the problem and seems a natural extension to our work” Greg continued “the fusion will bring the space saving benefit of the 4.3/10 and the intrinsic Anti-PIM characteristics of the WaveWay, meaning networks will be able to lever the advantages of the WaveWay in the feeder system without those benefits being attenuated by a metal connection at the Antennae”
